Wiring
Elite's wiring technicians are highly trained and meticulously thorough, whether working on functional test or ICT systems.
The Wiring Department is responsible for prewiring, wiring, soldering, crimping, twisting wires, interface pinning, general fixture wiring, HP3070 fixture wiring, functional wiring and system wiring. No two days are the same!
The journey of a typical test fixture
A test fixture first reaches the Wiring Department after a Data Prep engineer has prepared the job box, when it is passed to the wiring supervisor.
job box [dʒɒb bɒks] noun
a box with information that moves between departments with the fixture. It consists of the job quotation, customer specifications and list of parts that have been ordered or parts that need to be used.
The wiring supervisor reviews all the wiring data and orders any special parts before passing the job to a wiring technician to start pre-wiring the interface. After the interface is prewired it is transferred to Assembly.
The Assembly department receives the probe plate from Drilling, assembles the interface in the base, fits all parts and then returns the fixture to the Wiring department.
Back in the Wiring department, the base is inspected and prepared for the insertion of receptacles and sundries. A technician marks up the label file with PCB to identify the suitable probes to hit the pads.
At this stage, the Data Prep department can upload the auto pin or HP3070 files and once the fixtures are fully wired they are buzzed (error-checked) by two independent technicians.
After buzzing, wiring technicians insert the probes and print a probe type label to put on the fixture and final checks are carried out to ensure the fixture has been built correctly to the customer's specifications before it leaves the department.
